Bowling

How early should I arrive at the bowling alley before my game?

It’s best to arrive at the bowling alley 5-10 minutes early, so you have time to get set up in your lane.

How many people are allowed per bowling lane?

A maximum of 6 people are allowed per bowling lane. If you have more people playing and are keen to have lanes that are next to each other, make an online booking above.

How long does one game of Kingpin bowling take to complete?

A game on average takes 10 minutes per person to complete. You do the math, a group of 5-6 could take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour on average. Plenty of time to score a perfect 300. 

How much does bowling cost at Kingpin?

Laser Tag

The Laser Tag Arena is my specialty, how long does a game of laser skirmish last?

Laser missions go for 7 minutes and are purchased in packs of three. 

Is there a minimum age for Laser Tag at Kingpin?

For safety reasons, the minimum age for Kingpin Laser Tag Arenas is 6 years old. Unfortunately, a kid’s party booking for a child turning five cannot include Laser Tag.

Does my local Kingpin offer Laser Tag?

Kingpin North Strathfield, Chermside, Macarthur, Crown, Darwin, Townsville, and Norwood all offer Laser Tag. See you in the Arena!

Escape Rooms

How many people can use an Escape Room at the same time?

A maximum of 6 people is allowed per Escape Room. We recommend forming a group of 2-6 for the best experience.

What exactly is an Escape Room?

An Escape Room is a type of adventure game where players solve puzzles and challenges to escape a locked room within a set time limit. It requires teamwork and communication, and is designed to be challenging and engaging.

How long does it take to complete an Escape Room experience?

You have 60 minutes to break free from the Escape Rooms at Kingpin.

I'm a member, how do I get my Gold Royal Rewards Powercard?

You can replace your existing card with a new Gold Powercard for FREE at any Kingpin venue, just head to our Guest Services area and present your phone number to unlock Royal Rewards member powercard benefits!

How much will it cost me to play Arcade Games at Kingpin?

It's up to you. Different Arcade Games require a different amount of credits. You can also recharge your Powercard by any amount — the larger the top-up, the more bonus bucks you’ll receive!

Virtual Reality

Which venues have Virtual Reality?

All of our venues offer Virtual Rabbids and we have a range of other VR experiences available at select venues.

Are there any age or height restrictions?

There are no age restrictions, however for safety reasons the following height and weight restrictions apply:

  • Minimum height of 110cm
  • Children between 110 and 122cm must be accompanied by an adult
  • Maximum weight of 130kg

Please do not play if you are pregnant, claustrophobic, have a heart condition or are prone to motion sickness or dizziness.

What is VR?

VR stands for Virtual Reality. A Virtual Reality is a simulation generated by computer whereby the player can interact with the simulation as if it were reality.

Our VR games are played with Virtual Reality goggle headsets that sit over the eyes and are adjusted to your head measurements. Inside the goggles a virtual reality will appear before you, adjusting to your movements and actions via the gaming console/cabinet.

Birthday Party FAQs

What payments do I need to make?

A $150 deposit is required when booking your party; the final balance is to be paid 4 business days prior to your event based on your final guest numbers at this time. There is a minimum spend of $300 for any birthday booking.

What is the minimum number of guests I need to book?

There is no minimum number of guests however there is a minimum spend of $300 to enjoy the full experience of a birthday party with Kingpin including your own dedicated party host.

Is the cake included?

Cake is only included as an add on to Platinum Kids parties and Gold Teens party packages. You are also welcome to bring your own birthday cake to venue.

Can I bring in my own food?

No external food or beverage is permitted, unless in relation to a food allergy which you have confirmed with us prior to the day of your party. You can purchase additional food from our menu on the day or speak to our team about platter options ask at the time of booking or confirmation. Find out more about our allergy information.

Where is the food served?

Your group will either be eating at an allocated table, at the lanes or in a private room based on the package selected and subject to availability.

Where can I get the invitations?

Party invitations can be downloaded here or are available for pick-up in venue, or alternatively contact 1300 814 214 for invitations to be posted to you.

Do we need to bring socks?

Please remind your guests to bring a pair of socks when bowling is selected for your party. We would also recommend bringing in a few spare pairs, just in case! Socks can be purchased in venue for $10 per pair.

What is the Party Host’s role?

The party host, or Party P.A. as we like to call them, is there to entertain the kids during the party and organise all the FUN for you. We care about you and your children. While the party P.A. will be with the children for the duration of the party to guide activities, we recommend that at least one parent, guardian or your carer stay close by to supervise the kids.

Do I need to stay with the party?

Kingpin requires that a parent, guardian or adult remains with the party to supervise the party children and a touchpoint for our P.A. We recommend that carers are present for the duration of your party.

When do we have to arrive?

We request that the party organiser and attendees all arrive 15 minutes prior to the party start time to organise shoes, etc. This is to ensure that your party experience begins on time and that none of your guests miss out on any of the fun! Your party will commence on the hour.

Do you need any other information?

We ask that you collect contact information from your guests in the event that the parents of your guests need to be contacted. This should be brought with you on the day of your event.

How long will my party run for?

Depending on the party package you have chosen (and activities further selected):

Kids Parties:
The Silver package will go for approximately 2-3 hours
The Gold package will go for approximately 3-3.5 hours
The Platinum package will go for approximately 3-3.5 hours

Teens Parties:
The Silver package will go for approximately 2-3 hours
The Gold package will go for approximately 3-3.5 hours

What’s is the difference between Arcade Play Time and Arcade Credit?

Arcade play time included in a party package allows children to play all arcade games excluding machines that produce tickets & prizes for 30 minutes. Arcade credit is a dollar amount which allows game play on any arcade games and will produce tickets that can be used to redeem prizes.

Are there tables for the parents?

The party rooms/lounge areas for catering will be available for a 30 minute duration. No areas are reserved for parents/families unless food is purchased however options can be discussed when final payment is made.

When do I confirm final details?

We will call you prior to the party to confirm.

Final number of guests attending - this number is to ensure adequate team and catering on the day and will be no less than your minimum set in your agreement; Any special dietary requirements i.e. vegetarian or food intolerances; If you would like to order any additional platters, goodie bags for the kids or parents attending or a cake; and if you require any additional lanes booked for older siblings or adults attending.

If I need to cancel, do I get a refund?

Provided we are given more than 4 business days’ notice, we are able to offer a refund. No refunds will be honoured within 4 working days of the party.

How many lanes will I need?

We allocate a maximum of 6 children per bowling lane. As you will require multiple lanes, they will be kept next to each other.

Will we have the laser arena to ourselves?

Laser cannot be exclusively booked unless your group fills capacity of the arena. If your party does not fulfil the arena capacity, other guests may be playing in the arena at the same time. We do however, attempt to keep our groups similar in age.

What shoes do we wear?

If your party is for laser tag, please remind your guests to wear closed toe shoes. If you have a bowling party, please remember to bring socks! We will provide the shoes.

How old do you have to be to play Laser Tag?

For safety reasons, the minimum age for children in our laser arenas is 6 years old. A party for a child turning 5 years old cannot be for laser tag.

How old do you have to be to do a Cryptology Escape Room?

For safety reasons, the minimum age for children in our escape rooms is 14 years old.

How old do you have to be to do TopSpin Table Tennis?

For enjoyment reasons, the minimum age for children in our table tennis is 6 years old.

How old do you have to be to have a party?

We recommend that Kingpin parties are for kids aged 5 and above to deliver the best experience for the children.

How tall do I have to be to play Omni, Arcadia or Hologate Virtual Reality?

There are no age restrictions, however for safety reasons the following height and weight restrictions apply:

  • Minimum height of 110cm

Can I add extra kids on the day?

We cannot guarantee there will be space but will do our best to accommodate your party.

Ratio of Party P.A’s to kids?

This depends on age but roughly 1 P.A. for 8-14, 2 P.A’s for 14-24, etc.

Can I bowl or play laser with the party?

Yes, we have the option to add adults to our parties. Please mention this upon booking or select add extra people when booking online.

Can I add extra activities on the day?

Dependent on availability we can add on extra activities. 

Can I book a birthday party for twins, or a combined birthday party?

A: Yes you can. You can add the two names in the names section when booking, just separate them using the word "and" e.g. "Kate and Jess"

Social & Corporate FAQs

How long does a Kingpin event usually last?

Events are typically 2-3 hours long depending on the package you have selected. This allows plenty of time for arrivals, activities and of course eating and drinking.

How long does a game of bowling last?

One game of bowling lasts around 45 minutes to 1 hour with 5-6 people per lane. We will make sure to allocate the right number of lanes to your event to give your group the best possible experience.

How long does a game of laser tag last?

Laser goes for three missions of 7.5 minutes. Including briefing and de-briefing, laser will take about 30 minutes to complete.

How long is an Escape Room session?

Each Cryptology Escape Room can last up to one hour, depending on how quickly you can solve it! This doesn’t include briefing and de-briefing.

How many people are required for an Event?

Group packages are available to groups of 6 people or more. If your group is under 6 people, we recommend booking the activities you like via our general bookings and adding on some food platters!

Do you do a better rate for our large group?

Group packages are already at a greatly reduced rate as they are offered to groups of 6 people or more only.

Who is my contact on the day of my event?

Once you arrive in centre your host will be your main point of contact for the entirety of your event. Your host is dedicated to your event throughout it! Our managers will oversee the operation of your event and are available to facilitate any onsite needs you may have.

How far in advance do I need to book my event?

You can book your event online up to 3 days before your selected date. That gives you time to invite all your guests and for us to curate the best possible experience for you!

How early should I arrive for my event?

We suggest that you arrive around 10-15 minute prior to your event, your activities  will be ready at the time your event is scheduled to begin.

What happens if I am running late for my booking?

Please contact us if you are running late as we prepare and start your lanes and food requirements according to the scheduled times on your event booking confirmation. However, we may be able to extend your lanes dependent upon the lane availability at the time your event ends.

Will our lanes be together?

Yes, when you confirm your event consecutive lanes are booked for your group.

Can I book for an adults and kids package together?

Of course. If you are expecting a mix of adults and children at your event it makes perfect sense that everyone can be included in the fun! Please give our Events Specialist teams a call to discuss the best options available for your group.

How do I make payment?

Payment can be made on the day of event. If you would like to pay in full for your event ahead of the day we can take credit card payments over the phone for your booking. A booking specialist will be in contact with you to confirm your details and answer any questions you have about the event.

What if I need to cancel my event date?

Not a worry, if you need to cancel your event and provide us with notice of more than four (4) days prior to the proposed event date, we will refund your deposit in full.

Within Zero (0) to four (4) days prior to the event, the deposit will be forfeited. However we will always do our best to accommodate your needs and can apply your deposit to a social booking should you wish to book for a later date. A manager will contact you to discuss your options.

What if the number of guests changes?

We understand that things happen that are sometimes out of your control, we will work to accommodate any increase or decrease in numbers for your event, simply give our booking specialist team a call to discuss the options available to you.

For any increases we ask that you please give us as much notice as possible so we can accommodate your request.

Can I bring by own food and drinks to venue?

No food and beverage of any kind is permitted to be brought into Kingpin. However, our packages include excellent Food and Beverage options!

Does KINGPIN cater for all dietary requirements?

Should any of your guests have specific dietary requirements KINGPIN will use its best endeavours to accommodate them, just let our booking specialist team know during the confirmation of your event . For allergen information click here.

Does KINGPIN have insurance to cover our property at the event?

We accept no responsibility or liability for loss or damage to property brought into Kingpin and we suggest the client seek their own insurance to cover such an event.

What happens if we damage KINGPIN property?

Loss or damage caused by the company or group, including its guests and contractors, to any part of Kingpin or its equipment will be the responsibility of the company or group.

What is KINGPIN's security policy?

Venue management reserves the right to exclude or eject any objectionable persons from Kingpin. Security guards can be provided if your function requires them for an additional fee.

Does KINGPIN provide the supervision of children?

Venue management will take all reasonable care but will not accept responsibility for the supervision and wellbeing of a minor.

Can KINGPIN provide me with a risk assessment for our event?

We can email or post a risk assessment at your request.

What are KINGPIN's opening hours?

Opening times vary by location, please click here and choose your venue to get specific opening and closing times.

Can I brand or decorate the event space for my function?

For corporate events, the display of banners, signs, labels, decorations or the like must be first approved by venue management and as such must not be nailed, screwed, glued, stapled or similarly adhered to any part of the venue.

Do Kingpin Events require a deposit?

Yes. A deposit amount of $20 per person is taken at the time of booking your event online via credit card or PayPal. If you have a group of over 25 guests and make a booking via one of our event specialists then 50% of the event total will be required as a deposit. 

Do Christmas party bookings require a deposit?

Yes. A deposit amount of $20 per person is taken at the time of booking your event online via credit card or PayPal. If you have a group of over 25 guests and make a booking via one of our event specialists then 50% of the event total will be required as a deposit. 

How many people are required for Christmas Party Bookings?

Group packages are available to groups of 6 people or more. If your group is under 6 people, we recommend booking the activities you like via our general bookings and adding on some food platters!

Can outside catering be arranged for Christmas parties?

How can I ammend my booking?

For an event of less than 25 guests, contact our guests services team here. For events of larger than 25 guests please contact your event specialist based on the details they have provided.

Are party guests allowed to dress up?

Yes and we encourage you to do so, the crazier the better!

What will happen to my Powercard balance?

Your Powercard balances are held within our system. That means any remaining balance unused on your card can be brought back and played with on a later date - just keep the card. There is a 12 month expiration on your powercard balance from your last tap, so to extend this expiration come visit us and play again!

I have a birthday voucher. Can I extend this?

We want to make sure you can celebrate your birthday the right way. So all birthday vouchers distributed from 1st June 2024 onwards will have a 1 month expiry from the date of send to your account.

I have been waiting to receive my major prize. How will I receive this?

All major prizes have been redirected to your preferred delivery address. If you wish to check the status of your major prize, please submit an enquiry on our CONTACT US page and one of our lovely team members will be in contact.

What are your plans in terms of safety and hygiene?

How do I redeem my Gift Card?

eGift Cards and physical Gift Cards can be redeemed in centre or online via our website. If you would like to reserve your lane or laser tag spot prior to heading in to centre, please call 13 2695 and then use your gift card as your payment method once in centre.

Where can I redeem my Gift Card?

Your Gift Card can be redeemed at over 50 Kingpin, Playtime or ZONE BOWLING locations across Australia.

How long is my Gift Card valid?

Physical Gift and eGift cards purchased from March 31 2018 are valid for 3 years from date of purchase.
Physical Gift and eGift cards purchased prior to March 31 2018 are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

What value should I buy?

  • $20-$30 - One game of bowling or laser tag and a delicious beverage.
  • $50 - Three games of bowling or laser tag or a combination of both.
  • $75 - Take the whole squad bowling with food, drink and laser tag.
  • $100 - Use this card for bigger groups or for lots of games and food.
  • $150+ - From $150 or higher your group gets all the bells & whistles or spread it out over time and come back again to use the remainder!

What can I buy with my card?

Your Gift Card can be used for anything you can buy in venue. That includes games of bowling, laser tag, arcade credits, food, drinks.

Bowling

I am ready to roll like a royal on the bowling lanes, how long does one game take to complete?

One game of bowling at Kingpin lasts around 45 minutes to 1 hour for 5 to 6 people. Plenty of time to score a perfect 300. To be more specific, it translates to each game lasting approximately 10 minutes per person on the lane. 

How early should I arrive before my game?

We recommend you arrive 5-10 minutes early to have time to get set up on your lane

Awesome, but how many people per lane?

6 people or less per lane. If you have more people playing and you are keen to have lanes next to each other, book online here.

I have more than 6 people bowling in my squad, will we be bowling together?

Yes, you will, if you book ahead and guarantee your lanes. For all bookings of over 6 people, you will automatically be given 2 side by side lanes. Book online here.

I wore heels, and forgot my socks, do you sell socks in venue?

Yes we do, all our venues have socks for sale, available in men’s, women’s and kids sizes.

What is the deal with shoes, can't I just wear my own?

Bowling shoes are specially made as they allow customers to "slide" when Bowling, helping you hit that strike. It is important that these shoes are worn always as the incorrect footwear is a potential safety risk and can damage the approach to the lanes. 

What is our size range for shoes?

We range from Toddlers size 6 up to Men’s size 16
Men's bowling shoe sizes are the same as their normal shoes.
Women's bowling shoe sizes are two sizes below their normal shoe size. Example a ladies size 8 is a bowling size 6.
Kid's shoe sizes are the same as their normal shoes.
Unfortunately, there are no half sizes.

For safety reasons, we recommend wearing enclosed shoes. Thongs are not permitted due to the darkness of the laser arena - we would hate for you to have your toes stubbed or stepped on! It is up to the Team on the day to determine if your footwear is appropriate. If your shoes aren't up to scratch, we will supply you with bowling shoes.

Escape Rooms

How long does it take to complete an escape room experience?

You have 60 minutes to break free from the escape room.

What happens if the time runs out and we haven’t escaped?

In rare periods of calm and quiet (no bookings after yours) those requiring a little longer to figure it out, may be offered the Escape Clause. This comes at the price of $20 but gives you a further 15 minutes to emerge triumphant, head held high. Ask your game master – we won’t tell!

How many people can use an escape room at the same time?

Maximum 6 people per escape room. We recommend 2-6 people so you have a fair chance of escaping in time. 

Which venues have escape rooms?

Our Escape Rooms are currently only located in Kingpin Chermside, Kingpin North Strathfield, Kingpin Macarthur Square, and Kingpin Canberra. Book here

Arcade

New Powercard Coming

Our new Powercard arrives in February 2019 and you’re going to love tapping into all the new benefits.

The Powercard can be used in Kingpin, Timezone and Zone Bowling, meaning you have access to hundreds more games and can shop in any prize redemption store! The new gamecard also uses the latest technology, which gives you the ability to just TAP to start your game, no more swiping is required.

How do I get my new Powercard?

You can replace your existing card to the new Powercard at any Kingpin, Zone Bowling or Timezone, it’s free!

Can I still use my old card?

No, you can’t because all our game card readers will be changed to the Tap To Play card reader.

When will this change occur?

Each venue will be changing over from now until April. When you visit your nearest venue you will be able to change your card once they have them available.

Will I lose my bonus bucks I bought on the old packages?

No, your balances will be remain as is, and remain valid for 12 months from the last time you used the playcard. Remember to register your card to ensure that you safeguard your balance.

Will the value of my bonus tickets change?

No. Your ticket balance remains unchanged and has the same value as before.

Does the game prices change?

No. Game prices stay the same.

How much will it cost me to play?

It's up to you. You can recharge any amount, but the larger the amount you recharge the more bonus bucks you will receive.

Why did you change the prices?

The change is in part of big behind the scenes improvements to the Zone Bowling/Kingpin guest experience and value initiative.

Why are you more expensive than the competitors?

- Because we have better games, having invested millions of dollars in new games
- We have a wider variety of prizes and our customers win more often
- We are investing more than $7m in games this year

Can I split a reload of $100 across more than one card?

No. For Arcade Credit to be applied the full amount must be applied to one card. If you split the money across two cards the lesser ratio per card will apply.

Will the games and attractions change?

We’re always on the lookout for the latest and greatest games. Some venues are scheduled for some upgrades and refurbishments with potential game movements.

Will my points & credit transfer across to Timezone?

Yes, they will! We want you to still be in the running to collect enough tickets to win that plushie you’ve been saving up for!

Is the bowling pricing per person or for the lane?

Per person. 

I booked online, but never received an email confirmation, why?

If you didn’t receive a confirmation email here are some reasons why:

  • The email supplied could have been entered incorrectly
  • It could have ended up in your junk email, have a quick look to double check
  • Did you pay with paypal? All receipts are sent to the email address linked to your paypal account, or the email account that paypal supplies.
  • The payment may not have been processed.

Can I check my Powercard balance?

Absolutely! Get live updates on your powercard balance in real time via the online Kingpin portal.

How do I register my Kingpin powercard?

When you have logged into the Kingpin Royal Rewards portal, the first thing you should do is to add your Kingpin powercard. Have this powercard on-hand with you and turn it over to find the numbers below the barcode as your card's number to enter. The last three digits separated by an asterisk are your CVV numbers. Then name your card whatever you would like, and make it royal!

How long do my Kingpin powercard games credits last?

All credits in your Kingpin powercard are valid for 12 months since your last tap on a game in any of our venues. For those quick mathematicians out there, this means if you visit Kingpin and play a game more than once every year your credits will live on perpetually!

I need a receipt for my online reload, where can I find this?

One of the Royal Rewards portals key features is that all of your card's transactions and invoices can be found under each individual Powercard listing. Note any activity beyond 3 months will not show, please call our support team if you require transaction history further than this.

I've forgotten my password to the Kingpin portal, how do I find it?

Of course you forgot it because you never had a password! The Kingpin members portal sign-in system uses a one-time password sent to either your email or mobile phone number so that is all you need to log on to your account, plus mobile data of course ;)

How do I claim my free $20 Games Credit?

Every person can get $20 games credits for free by signing up to become a Royal Rewards member. Claim it instantly in-venue by providing your details at our Guest Services area and claim a Gold powercard along with it, earning you cheaper games every time you tap!
